SPECIFIC AMOUNT "jumps" the bid to your desired amount immediately, while the MAX BID tool bids for you automatically, only when someone is bidding against you, up to your set amount. It will onlyl alert you when, or if you are outbid and will not "jump" your bid to your set max amount. In other words, if the resulting high bid is still below your MAX BID it will not charge you any more than the last increment that was automatically bid for you.
